Methodology
This site republishes official statistical series. It does not recompute them, does not complete them, and adds no estimate to them. This page explains where the figures come from, how they are dated, and what we do not do.
Where the figures come from
The 241 series currently tracked come from Banque mondiale — WDI, under the CC BY 4.0 licence. A program queries the producer's public API, one series per request, and writes the result as it stands. No value is entered by hand. Every dataset comes with the indicator's code, the exact URL of the request and the collection date: the source sheet, at the foot of every page, lets you make the request yourself.
How the pages are dated
The date shown at the head of the page is not typed in: it is the date of the commit that changed the data file. It also feeds the structured data read by search engines and the site map. One object, three outputs, no possible divergence between what a human reads and what a robot reads.
Two dates must be told apart. The collection date says when we queried the source. The year of the data says what the figure refers to. Institutes publish one to three years behind: a page read in 2026 may legitimately show a 2024 value. We always show the year of the data beside the figure, never the current year.
Missing values
A year without publication stays empty. It is neither interpolated, nor replaced by zero, nor hidden: in the tables it is marked “not published”, and in the charts it breaks the curve. Joining two points across a hole would amount to inventing the years in between.
What we do not do
- No in-house estimate on an official indicator. If the source has not published, the cell stays empty.
- No comments, no forum, no reader contributions.
- No opinion, no political analysis. This site is a data service.
- No machine translation. The titles, the units and the interface come from a glossary kept by hand; the Arabic prose is written, never put through a machine.
- No figure without a named producer, a stated licence and a link to the source.
The particular methods
This page describes the handling of statistical series. A dataset recorded by hand, or a figure the site computes itself, is not described the same way: each has its own method page.
An error?
A figure that looks wrong to you comes either from the source or from a fault in our processing. The source sheet settles it in a minute. Report it to contact@tounesna.org: a correction is published like a piece of data, with its date.
